Chi City! Part 2

After checking in, we grabbed a coffee at Descartes' coffee house. Brad was excited to get his coffee in a china mug - very rare in the mid west!

In the afternoon we went wandering past some lovely neighbourhoods and saw Blue Chicago and found an Irish pub.

Our next stop was Pizzeria Uno. These guys claim to have created Chicago-style pizza. We had to try their wares but the line up was out of control. Just across the road is the sister: Pizzeria DUE. We stopped in here to try the deep deep-dish Chicago pizza.

The evening ended with us sampling some local brews.

We were hoping to spend some of Saturday at the Celtic Fest. Here is another shot of the bean (Cloud Gate). If you look carefully, you can see a ring of BagPipe players performing for the crowd.

This is the stage in Millennium Park. It doesn't look like it from this shot but it is HUGE! Very Impressive.

We stopped for lunch at a place called "Brian's" for $6 we scored a giant sub. This is half of it. We couldn't finish it all in one sitting.

The next stop was the Navy Pier.

Reaching out into Lake Michigan, the Navy Pier is a great opportunity to grab some shots of the city. There is also a ferris wheel and amusement park, a stain-glass museum, an IMAX cinema, and many bars and food courts.

After a very rainy Saturday afternoon, we woke up to a picture perfect Sunday morning.

On Sunday morning, we went to church....kind of. We headed off to the House of Blues Sunday morning gospel. It was a great show and a good southern-style breakfast.  Brad got stuck into the fried chicken and we both had a dance in the aisles.

Just before we jumped back on the "L" train to the airport, Erin spotted something she'd been hoping to stumble upon during the trip. For Blues Brother's fans, this plaza features in the final scenes. To the left is the Picasso that Jake refers to during the car chase, to the right is the J.Daley Center they crash the car through, and in the background is the city hall.  City Hall is the location in which they finally pay the county auditor - played by a Mr S Spielberg.
